LoBrook Residence

We were brought onto this project to pull a permit, correct work that had not been completed to code by the previous contractor. The former provider was not officially licensed, which unfortunately led to compliance and safety concerns. Our role was to step in with integrity and bring the project up to proper standards, working within the remaining budget to complete as much as possible with care and accountability. Our focus has been on protecting the client’s investment while upholding building code requirements and best practices

Worked with City to pull on necessary permits for full renovation. Demo to studs, new framing, wood panel vaulted ceilings. electrical, plumbing, insulation, drywall, roofing, custom eves, interior and exterior finishing. More photos coming soon.

Every project tells a story — and this one reminded us just how much flexibility, clarity, and trust matter in custom building.

Our clients came to us with a limited budget but ambitious goals: a 4-inch home lift, full structural reframing, and a complete interior and exterior remodel of over 2,600 square feet. As the project evolved, the scope changed more than 15 times — from finishes and layouts to major design decisions. Despite these shifts, which required our team to continuously adapt, re-sequence, and problem-solve on the fly to keep the project moving forward.

Even when selections diverged from our original design recommendations, our team ensured that every element was built with integrity, balance, and craftsmanship. All cabinetry and woodwork were custom designed to our client's evolving specs.

We’re now completing landscaping and final details, and look forward to revealing how adaptability, persistence, and craftsmanship can still bring beauty to even the most complex journey.

Why Timelines Shift When Scope Changes
Every remodel is a partnership — and the timeline depends on clarity and consistency. When selections, layouts, or finishes change (especially mid-construction), the entire project rhythm shifts:

  1. New materials need new orders and lead times
  2. City revisions or inspections may be required
  3. Trades must be rescheduled and sequences re-aligned

Even small adjustments can ripple through the schedule — and when those shifts happen repeatedly, delays are unavoidable.

Foundation lift  & Whole-House Remodel

One of our most challenging projects — navigating Coastal Commission regulations, a 100-year-old structure, and tight budget within estate-planning limits to remain a remodel and addition rather than a new build. The design is simple yet technically complex, maximizing every inch of a compact footprint. A true lesson in creativity, compliance, and craftsmanship — proving that thoughtful design can make small spaces extraordinary.

1980s-Inspired Beach Bungalow | Full Design + Remodel

This century-old coastal bungalow was one of our favorite design and build collaborations — a true blend of restoration, creativity, and heart. The homeowners dreamed of a vintage-inspired beach retreat with authentic 1980s charm, and we were all in.
We took the home down to the studs, reworked the layout for flow and function, and upgraded all mechanical systems — HVAC, plumbing, and electrical — to bring this 100-year-old structure back to safe, lasting working condition for the next century.
Every design element was hand-selected: vintage fixtures, custom glass, and retro tilework that celebrate the past while feeling fresh and timeless. The kitchen and bath were fully redesigned, honoring the home’s soul while introducing modern craftsmanship and efficiency.
This project captures everything we love about unique coastal design — character, comfort, and the kind of craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

1970/80s-Inspired Beach Bungalow | Full Design + Remodel

Our clients had just purchased their new home — full of potential but stuck in the 1980s with low dropped ceilings and outdated finishes.
With a limited budget and a tight timeline before move-in, we reimagined the main floor for comfort, function, and style:

- Complete kitchen remodel with modern cabinetry and upgraded fixtures
- Powder bath refresh for a cohesive look throughout
- New flooring installation to unify the space
- Full repipe and electrical upgrade for long-term reliability and safety
- Fresh interior paint to brighten and open up the rooms

Despite the challenges, our team completed the transformation on schedule and budget — allowing the family to settle into a beautiful, updated, and safe new home.  We are looking to working together on phase 2!

Full renovation of a 4 bedroom 3.5bath House in Palos Verdes. 
From Conception to Demo, we took it down to the studs, foundation reinforcement, new framing, upgrade all electrical, prep for solar, upgrade all plumbing, all windows and doors, insulation, drywall, floors, kitchen, bathrooms, cabinetry, counter tops, Laundry and storage. Vista Mesa | Great Room & Kitchen

KMC worked with an Architect, engineer and City to pull on necessary permits for a full renovation of the Kitchen, Diving, Main Living, family and Laundry room and construction of a new powder bathroom. Conception, Design, Demo down to studs. removed all interior walls to create a "Great Room"  Installed structural grade steel beam footings, fire place, new framing, upgrade, electrical, plumbing, insulation, drywall, minor roofing, floors, cabinetry, counter tops, and custom front entry doors.
